Box type tempering muffle furnace is a commonly used equipment for heat treatment of metal materials, mainly used for the tempering process of workpieces (low-temperature heating of workpieces after annealing and normalizing). By precisely controlling the temperature and holding time, it eliminates internal stress of workpieces, reduces hardness, improves toughness, and improves the comprehensive mechanical properties of materials. Its structure usually includes a furnace body, heating elements, temperature control system, furnace door, and insulation layer, etc. It has the characteristics of high temperature uniformity, easy operation, and wide applicability.

Main application areas
Machinery manufacturing
Temper mechanical parts such as gears, shafts, cutting tools, and molds to eliminate internal stresses after quenching, stabilize dimensional accuracy, and prevent deformation and cracking.
Example: After tempering, the strength and toughness of the car gearbox gears match better, extending their service life.

EADS
Handle high-performance alloy parts such as aircraft engine blades and fasteners to ensure their reliability in high temperature and high pressure environments.

Hardware Tools
Used for tempering tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers to achieve both hardness and impact resistance.

Automotive industry
Temper automotive springs, bolts, crankshafts, and other components to improve their overall performance and meet driving safety requirements.

Metallurgical Industry
Batch tempering treatment is carried out on steel, alloys, etc. to adjust the mechanical properties of the products and adapt them to different uses (such as structural steel, tool steel, etc.).

Working principle and characteristics
Working principle
Heating elements (such as resistance wires, silicon carbide rods, etc.) are used to heat the air or protective atmosphere inside the furnace. The workpiece is placed inside the furnace and kept at a set temperature for a certain period of time to transform the internal structure and achieve tempering effect.
Some equipment can be filled with inert gas (such as nitrogen) to prevent workpiece oxidation, suitable for precision parts or easily oxidizable materials.

Core Features
Accurate temperature control: Equipped with an intelligent temperature controller, the temperature control accuracy can reach ± 1 ℃, meeting the tempering process requirements of different materials.
Good furnace uniformity: Heating elements are evenly distributed and combined with a hot air circulation system (some models) to ensure consistent heating of the workpiece.
Safe and convenient operation: The furnace door is sealed to prevent heat leakage; Equipped with safety devices such as over temperature alarm and leakage protection.
Strong universality: It can handle workpieces of different sizes and shapes, suitable for small and medium-sized production or laboratory scenarios.

Precautions for use
Temperature setting
Strictly set the temperature according to the tempering process requirements of the workpiece material to avoid softening of the workpiece due to high temperature or inability to eliminate stress due to low temperature.
Example: The tempering temperature for high-speed steel cutting tools is usually around 560 ℃, and multiple tempering steps are required to achieve the best results.

Workpiece placement
The workpieces should be evenly placed in the furnace to avoid stacking too densely and affecting heat conduction, ensuring that each workpiece is fully heated.

Heating and insulation
During the heating process, it is necessary to observe whether the temperature control system is normal, and the insulation time should be adjusted according to the thickness of the workpiece and material characteristics (usually 0.5-2 hours).

Cooling method
After tempering, the workpiece is generally cooled in the furnace or air cooled out of the furnace, which needs to be selected according to the process requirements to avoid new stress caused by rapid cooling.

Routine maintenance
Regularly clean impurities such as oxide scale and oil stains in the furnace to prevent contamination of the workpiece or affect the service life of the heating element.
Check whether the heating element is loose or aging, and replace damaged parts in a timely manner; Regularly calibrate the temperature controller to ensure temperature accuracy.

Safe operation
Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation to avoid high temperature burns; Before opening the furnace door, it is necessary to confirm that the temperature has dropped to a safe range (generally<200 ℃).

Selection reference factors
Temperature range: Select according to the tempering temperature of the workpiece material (such as 500~650 ℃ for tool steel and 150~300 ℃ for aluminum alloy).
Furnace size: determined based on the size of the workpiece and batch size, sufficient space needs to be reserved to ensure thermal circulation.
Temperature control accuracy: Precision parts should be selected within ± 1 ℃, while ordinary workpieces can be relaxed to ± 5 ℃.
Additional functions: such as whether to use protective atmosphere, automatic temperature control program, data recording function, etc.
